Two things today:

If you are against what the FCC is trying to do, sign the petition at www.stopfcc.com.
Don't forget to tell your friends.

Also, a very creative friend of mine has started drawing and writing a comic strip based on growing up in a small town in PA. It's pretty funny, not to mention so darn creative! Where does he come up with these ideas? Either way, if you wouldn't mind, please check it out at Union Avenue . Thank you and please drive through.

Well, I finally got around to updating the BANDS section of my site. I felt it was in need of a change. If you have the time, check out my favorite parts of the bands I love. I've also updated my Concert schedule for 2004. I hope to have some pics from some of the shows up soon. This year has gotten off to a slow start but more and more dates are being released. Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Over the past few weeks I've had Metallica on the brain. So what's new right? I'm literally addicted to Met On Tour. Go there and you can be too! hehe While on their North American tour they are pulling out some "old gems" along with the chance to download the entire show (for a small fee at www.livemetallica.com)

So, can you say "Dyers Eve played for the first time ever!!!" I burned that show to a CD and cant stop listening. Can you also say "Jump in the Fire!" Why that hasn't been played in 20 years!!

I've also been listening to my other bootlegs and or live CDs. I'm trying to control my excitment over seeing them but it isn't working very well. I'm also trying very hard to patiently (yeah right!) wait for August to roll around. Not only is that my birthday month, but I will be at two Metallica shows with the possiblilty of 2 more. (I'm looking to Road Trip to St. Louis) If only they would annouce more dates already! In August, Metallica is also releasing a new book So What! The Good, The Mad and The Ugly. Happy Birthday to me!

In other news...my camera died a couple weeks ago :( It truely was a sad day since I don't go anywhere without it. I believe I literally wore it out. Anyone who knows me knows how many pictures I take! Heck, the lady at the place where I get my film developed knows me by name! She even noticed the quality of my concerts pics were not what they normally are after she developed a roll I used in my hubby's camera! Crazy I tell ya! A few days ago I bought a new one. Another Canon SureShot, Model Z155. So far I love it and I can't wait to take concert pics with it! In fact, that will be in a few days. :)

Well now…it has been a pretty darn long time since I made any updates. What finally sat me down to write this update you may ask? Well, last week, both Ray Rayner and Captain Kangaroo died. What are the odds that they would die in the same week? These are two shows I remember watching during the mid to late seventies/early 80's.

This past Sunday I happened to be listening to a talk radio show. They were having a "Tribute to Ray Rayner" segment. People were asked to call in and share their memories. Listening to people call in helped to trigger my own memories of the show..."Reminder notes" pined to Ray Rayner's outfit, Cuddly Dudley, the crazy duck, the cartoons, etc.

After a little searching of the internet, I even found the Cuddly Dudley song..

We're off to Cuddly Duddly's house,
He's cute as we can see
With his fur of gold and his nose that's cold
He's cuddly as can be,
He has riddles and jokes but the fun that he pokes
Is never aimed at me
Here's the place that he lives and
The name that he gives is Cuddly

Another caller commented on his negative encounter with the show…feeling he was the only kid who DID NOT hear his school listed as being closed for the day. I too remember watching and waiting and hoping to hear my school district announced which meant a snow day, which meant NO SCHOOL! YEAH!

If you'd like to take a trip down Ray Rayner Memory Lane or check out what I'm talking about, I found this website.

Another person to call in and tell their memories of Ray Rayner was Rich Koz…none other than the Son of Svengoolie. Who remembers watching this show on "Channel 32"? I read somewhere that a horror channel was being created. I sure as hell hope so and that a lot of the old original horror movies will be aired on there. I found quite a bit of info about the whole Svengoolie thing here.

And last but not least, who remembers Captain Kangaroo? Granted, I don't remember watching this show religiously, but I do recall watching it some of the time. You know, it's kind of sad when the hosts of childhood shows pass on. It makes me feel old.

You can read more on Captain Kangaroo here.

And while we are on the subject of shows I watched while growing up…I recall waking up very early on weekend mornings to watch Gigglesnort Hotel. Do you remember this show? Probably not, because I keep finding out that very few people remember it. Aside from a couple of people who are at least my age or a little older, no one else has heard of it. When I asked a friend at work if she remembered the show, she looked at me funny. After I gave her some details and showed her some pictures I found on the internet she started to remember. She also commented that it brought back repressed fears. haha I remember the dragon and the blob being my favorite characters.

You can read more about this show here.

Oh and could someone please tell me where 2003 went? It seems to have gone by WAY too fast. Until next time...

August 1 , 2003
WOW!! It's now August 1st. Where in the WORLD does all the time go!? I bet there is a time troll. He sits around and waits until you are sleeping and then steals days from you.

Anyway...since my last major update in May it has been pretty much Metallica on the Brain 24/7. If you don't believe me, just ask my family and friends. I've even talked about the band so much that I caused my friend at work to have a dream about them! haha Talk about an influence. In her dream, she met them but admitted that she wasn't a fan. She kept telling Lars how she HAD to get a picture of them to prove to me she had seen them! She also kept going on and on about how much I loved them. Lars kept asking her "So, why don't you like Metallica?" She did tell him he was cool for wearing clogs! hahahaha Another friend commented to me that she doesn't love any one thing as much as I love Metallica. Hey, what can I say? I LOVE METALLICA!

Since May 19th I have seen Metallica 4 times. The most recent being July 26 and 27th. Back to back shows in Chicago and Minneapolis. My friend Kim had never been on a road trip until the 7-27 show so we planned that before the Chicago show was even announced. When we found out the Chicago date was the day before, we didn't let that stop us! Besides, how in the world could we miss seeing Metallica in our own city!! It was a long weekend but MAN did it ROCK! I'm still working on the write up. I'm kind of bummed that a lot of my pictures didn't turn out. Oh well. One of these days I WILL get some AWESOME pics of Metallica! Until then...on I burn.

July 17, 2003

Just a quick update. Since April, 2003, I started keeping track of personalized license plates. Well, the first installment was 603 plates. I have just added another bunch and the total is now at almost 1,000. Who would have believed this would become so HUGE! Check out the plates of some pretty creative people here.

WOW! I don't even know where to start! So much has happened in the last few days that my head is STILL spinning with excitment! Ok, let me back up. Remember that Metallica contest I entered? Well, I didn't win. BUT...my friend Kim and I both entered another Metallica contest and we found out this past Wed that we BOTH were picked to go to TWO of the FOUR rehearsal shows THIS MONTH IN SAN FRANCISCO, CA!! (You can ONLY win tickets to these shows through the Metallica Club or through local radio stations.)

OMFG!!! IM GOING TO SEE METALLICA IN A VENUE THAT HOLDS ABOUT 1000-1200 PEOPLE!

My friend Kim and I have since booked our flight, hotel and rental car. We have made plans to visit Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, The Golden Gate Bridge/Park, Haight-Ashbury, Chinatown, etc, etc, etc. I really hope we can fit it all in. One week from tomorrow we will be in San Fran having the time of our lives! I SO CAN'T WAIT!

In other news..a month ago today, I saw Rob's movie House of 1000 Corpses and MAN was it GREAT! The "family" was psycho, Baby's laugh was psychotic and there was lots of humor, gore, etc, etc. I loved all the different camera angles and effects too. I can't wait for the uncut DVD, which should be out around Halloween 2003, so I can see just what Rob had to edit out.

Alrighty, I'm off to finalize my trip to San Francisco. Oh boy what a TREAT it will be! hehe

April 6, 2003
Well this year is just FLYING by with no intention of slowing down. Aside from normal every day life (family, work, cleaning house) I've been to 13 shows, one weekend road trip and it looks like the future is still waiting for me to do some more living.

Next Friday, April 11th, will bring Rob Zombie's new movie House of 1000 Corpses. ::fingers crossed:: it will be playing at a theater near me. Ive been waiting for this movie to be released since the fall of the Roman Empire, I mean, since the Fall of 2000, so it had better be! haha

I have also entered into a drawing to be able to attend the MTV Icon Award show in May. The honored guests? METALLICA BABY!! My friend Kim has also entered so if either of us wins, we're heading back out to CA!

I've also recently, more or less, finished "decorating" the walls of my computer room with tons of music memorbilia, posters, etc. Pics coming soon.

Not too many CD purchases lately. However, I did a final count on my CD collection and it is just 1 CD short of 800! YIKES! Is that too many?? haha

I have added pics for two shows Ive been to this year: Hookah Brown (Rich Robinson-Black Crowes) and Jackyl. I have pics from a couple other shows I was at this year but man, it takes time to create the pages. In time I guess...

WOW! I've been a little behind with the site. Let's see what's been going on. Halloween was a smashing success! I came in 1st place for the Costume Contest at work. WOOHOO I also had a lot of fun scaring the kiddies on Halloween. Every year the outside of the house is set up with signs, scary music playing and of course, hubby dresses up to give out the candy. Check out our Halloween costume pics here. Hubby wore the large troll mask my son is wearing in the pics to hand out candy. He stood perfectly still until the right moment! hahaha

Who loves "New Music Tuesday's?" I know I do. There is nothing like opening a new CD for the first time. You never know what you will get out of it.

For what seems like forever now I have been waiting for the release from Audioslave. (Chris Cornell/Rage). I also found out the new Matchbox Twenty CD was also released the same day. Both CDs are EXCELLENT! I can't stop listening to either. First and foremost though the music draws me into the whole listening experience. There is definitely some AWESOME music on both of these CDs. When the lyrics and vocals are taken into consideration, well, these songs are absolutely amazing. Check em out for yourself.

September 11, 2002
I'm having a hard time believing that a WHOLE YEAR has passed since the horrible tradgedy that happened one year ago today.

When I woke up this morning, I wasn't sure how I would react to this day. After listening to various radio stations, while on my way to work, telling about various memorials that had already taken place, hearing recordings of actual accounts from one year ago, and people calling in to tell their stories, I couldn't help but cry all the way into work.

My son's school and my company both took time to "remember" today.

While driving around this morning and after work, I saw many "signs" and flags at half mast. I took a lot of pictures today and will add them to my site as soon as possible. It's great to see so many businesses and even people with flags on their cars, remembering what happened.

To those who lost friends and family, my thoughts are with you.
