| My
friends and I headed to the Aragon and arrived about 1-1/2 hours before
the doors opened. I wanted to be up front on the floor so I had to be
there early. Since we had no cover from any buildings, we all BAKED in
the hot sun. Around 6:15pm we filed in. I snagged two promo posters off
the walls and then found a spot 2nd from the railing on the left side
of the floor. Perfect. Since cameras were allowed I expected to get some excellent pics. Well, had the FOG machine not being going off all night they would have turned out a lot better. Oh well. At 6:30pm a local band, Love Hammers, came out and played a rockin' set. I noticed their bass player had a shirt on that said WW6D. (what would Sixx Do?) My friend pointed out that he was also playing a Nikki Sixx Blackbird Bass. Their 20-30 minute set was enough to make me a fan. The next band, Epedemic, was nothing to write home about. Their 45 minute set was the longest 45 minutes of my life. Ugh. It was bad. Jerry Cantrell (and band) played an AWESOME set. They played 4 AIC songs, along with songs off Jerry's last and most recent album. All through the night Jerry kept thanking everyone for their applause. His bass player had the longest dreads I have ever seen. All night he kept head banging his head and they would go flying! Nickelback took the stage and the crowd went crazy. All night people kept trying to cut in front of me. There was NO ROOM at all to move, where did these people think they were going to fit? This was my very first time seeing Nickelback and I was not disappointed. I really hope I get another chance to see them live. I found a pick on the floor during a song but I ended up scraping off most of the Nickelback name when I slid it across the floor with my foot. Oh well. It was Ryan's pick. Twice during their set, the guys in the band brought out canisters of water to spray the crowd with. It was VERY hot in there and it was appreciated although, since I wear contacts I didn't want it in my eyes. BOTH times they sprayed water I put my head down but got hit on top of my head! haha The band left the stage for a little while then Chad and Ryan came back out to play an acoustic version of Hero while sitting on bar stools. They also started playing the first part of "their hit single" but the rest of the band soon came out and they went into the electric version right way. After the show I bought some stickers and a key chain. It was a great night. |
