Sometime in February 2010, my friend Kim challenged me to grow my hair to donate it to Locks of Love. See, normally I only get my hair cut once or a twice a year anyway. So I thought... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! What I didn't realize until probably halfway through 2010, was that the last time I had my hair cut was March 21, 2009!!!! The first pic below was the day I had my hair cut back in 2009...the same day I happened to see/meet Shinedown. The 2nd photo (me with The Steepwater Band and Marc Ford) was the only photo I had of me in Feb 2010 that showed how long my hair had grown from March '09 until that point. Anyone find it funny that the only two hair length reference pics I have are of me with a band!? HAHA |

Sometime during the month of Aug (2010) I stopped at my hair salon to see just how long my hair had grown. See, I had to grow it long enough so that when I actually got my hair cut, it would be no shorter than when I normally got it cut. I had approx 7" of extra length. Not enough. At minimum you had to donate 10". Fast forward to Oct (2010) and I stopped at my hair salon to have my hair measured again. I had another inch or so to go! GAH! haha By October I was ready to get my hair cut. I was hoping it would be long enough by the end of Nov, but I was most likely looking at the end of December. EGADS! Once November rolled around I had pretty much talked myself into waiting until the end of December. (I was going on almost 2 years here people!!) However long it was, and no matter how short my hair ended up being, I WAS GETTING IT CUT!!! OMG! It was so long and it was everywhere! It was always getting caught in stuff, flying all crazy like in the wind, and I can't tell you how many times I would pull my hair on accident every time I adjusted my seat belt!!! ARGH!! When the last week of December finally rolled around, I was too busy to get it cut. During the first week of January, I had the flu for 2-1/2 days so that week was out. But finally, on January 12, 2011 I called my hair salon and spoke with the lady that normally cuts my hair. She had an early evening appt or one on Saturday. I decided to just get it over with vs waiting a few more days. Needless to say, Im feeling much lighter now and like something is missing! ;) |
