One of my biggest
hobbies is going to concerts. I went to my first concert in April 1986 and as
of August 23, 2008 I have been to 415 concerts. (Damn I'm old! haha) Seeing
my favorite bands live is truly a high in itself. There is nothing like
feeling the vibe the band projects onto the crowd. Or what about my most
exciting part of a live show...hearing my all time favorite songs. I can't
even put into words how exciting that is. There is nothing like hearing
your favorite songs Live and Loud! The energy from a concert is one of
the greatest experiences a person can have.
You might notice, over
the last 10 years, compared to prior years, I have gone to see an outrageous
number of bands. Well, outrageous by whose standards? haha I cannot see
enough live shows. And besides, it's a great way to show support for the
bands I love.
My other favorite
part of the live show is when I am up close to the stage. This of course
allows me to see each band member's facial expressions. I tend to get
mesmorized when a band member is totally into their playing and more than
shows it on their face. I have also cracked up laughing many times while
watching a band member make faces at his fellow bandmates. Or what about
the best part, when band members make eye contact with their fans, namely
me. hehe
Whenever possible, I love to take pictures of the actual show capturing
the moment forever. Call it luck or what have you, but I've ended up with
some pretty darn good shots! :) Through a very good friend of mine,
I have been able to meet quite a few of my favorite bands. Others I have
met simply by being in the right place at the right time! Everyone I have
ever met has been totally cool.
Road trips are another musical adventure I love! I have met some really
great people and have had some of the best times on road trips to see
bands. My friends and I have gotten lost more than once (We are talking
going and coming back. Oh and let me ask you, how many times can a person
pass the Hormel Chili Plant in their lifetime? Current record I believe
stands at 4 or 5. Oh and don't even try to make a left hand turn in San
Francisco!) or have had some other crazy things happen to us. That's all
part of the adventure, right? It's also fun meeting up with other people
who also share the same enthusiasm for these bands as I do. Check out
my concert list and various pictures via the links below.
