Beatallica
Vnuk's ~ Cudahy WI
Friday the 13th - April 2007

Jess and I met at Vnuk's just after 9:30pm. I could hear a band playing as we were walking up to the door. Once inside I looked towards the stage. I had to do a double-take because I didn't quite believe what I was seeing. *looks again* Yup, those are guys in skirts/dresses/wigs up there on stage. Jess and I both just shook our heads. Hey, to each their own, I guess. Aside from they way they were dressed, they didn't sound all that bad.

OK, normally I wouldn't mention this part of the night, but how else do I explain the picture below? Well, let's just say I "acquired" this photo in the Ladies Room. heh heh It got a little mangled in my purse, but still, I wanted it. The "new guy" was in the photo and there was mention of the filming.

Jess and I were standing around, still not believing the opening band we were seeing when Kliff spotted us. Kliff also introduced us to "the new guy" (as I kept calling him all night) and we all made small talk. Well, LOUD talk actually.

Eventually Jaymz spotted us and we made LOUD talk with him too. He filled Jess in on his unexpected "back stage" happenings at the Type O show since I had already read his post on the Beatallica board.

After a while, Jaymz had to round up the troops to get ready for their set. After the first band left the stage, Jess and I made our way to the front, left-side. Kliff's side of course!

At some point, before the band went on stage, I mentioned to Jaymz that I realized tonight's show was my 7th since 2005. Even I was surprised by that since I didn't think I had seen the band so many times! Either way, Beatallica are a guaranteed great time. Obviously, I can't get enough of their live show.

We watched them set up and took note that there were 4 cameras. I hoped that the footage that night would work out for what they needed.

Finally, the time had come. The lights dimmed and I believe it was around 10:40pm when Beatallica took the stage. They came out in FULL FORCE, FULL ON, ROCKIN' OUT. You know, I'm thinking about starting a petition for a longer set. They played until almost midnight but still, that wasn't long enough!

(I snagged Kliff's set list after the show, since my memory is usually crap afterwards, so here's a run down of the set as written)

SGT. HET'S BAND
REVOLUTION
USSR
SANDMAN
HELVESTER
GARAGE DAYZ
BASS SOLO
LEPER
KTULU
HORSEMEN
HEY DUDE
REPRISE
JUSTICE
encore:
BLOOD
ICE
RUN 4 LIFE
THRASHING

All night the band played with the same energy that I have seen at every other Beatallica show. This band really does give their all into each performance. I don't think I will ever get tired of watching Kliff headbang and rock out while playing! He also has great energy on stage! Even though there wasnt much lighting on Ringo Larz, I could still tell he was beating the crap out of his set. So much so, he was dying of thirst. Kliff offered water but that wasn't going to cut it! HAHA

In my opinion, "The New Guy" did well and he looked like he was having a lot of fun up there on stage. Although Jaymz did comment that Grg wasn't "mean" enough. hehe Jamyz was sporting a new shiny black guitar. NICE! He also had some funny comments between songs. When he mentioned Europe and playing the Kings of Metal fest, Kliff came back with "We're more like the Jesters of Metal." That got a laugh. But to be honest, I don't see them as some cheesy cover band or anything like that. To be able to combine Beatles and Metallica songs the way they do is amazing!

While I really like every song they play, the highlights of the night for me were:

*Revolution - Just a great sing along song!

*Sandman - I just love the way Taxman is matched up with this song

*Ktulu - I think is my new fave Beatallica song. MAN ALIVE, it's FREAKIN' AWESOME! (think Ktulu meets She's So Heavy)

*Blood - I remember when I first heard this song. As the Beatles stated "All We Need is Lov, I mean BLOOD!"

*Ice - When I saw this on the set list, I had forgotten the Beatles song that was incorrporated into Trapped Under Ice. Once they started playing I immedietely remembered. My all time fave Beatles song "Got to Get You Into My Life" or as Beatallica says "Got to get you trapped under ice!"

Quick comment on my pics. I don't know if it was due to the lighting or all the smoke that night, but these are the best of the ones I took. I'm not totally happy with them, but hey, at least you can see what you're missing at a Betallica show!.
